About Microneedling

Microneedling also known as “collagen induction therapy” involves using a handheld device with multiple sharp, sterile needles to puncture the skin creating micro injuries that stimulate the skin’s repair mechanism to produce new collagen production.

Microneedling can be used to improve fine lines, acne and other scars, pore size, pigmentation, and overall appearance of the skin.

What is Microneedling?

Topical numbing medication will be applied prior to the procedure. If you choose to use PRP (platelet rich plasma), your blood will be drawn and spun to separate, while you are numbing. Once numb, your skin will be thoroughly cleansed. During the treatment, hyaluronic acid or your own PRP will be applied to the treatment area. You may feel some warmth and a scratching/pulling sensation as the device moves over your skin, but the numbing cream should keep pain to a minimum. After treatment is complete, PRP and/or exosomes will be applied to your skin to help with healing and improve results.

Immediately after treatment, your skin will likely be red and swollen; this can last 2-3 days (but is often shorter duration with use of exosomes). After the initial few days, you may notice that your skin is very dry.

Because microneedling involves puncturing the skin, it is important to protect your skin barrier and minimize activities that increase your risk for infection in the first 48-72 hours.

For the first 72 hours, avoid exercise, sweating, excessive sun exposure, makeup, active ingredient products (vitamin C, retinol products). Use a gentle cleanser, recommended serum and sunscreen.

Drink lots of water.

And, then get ready for lots of compliments about your glowing, radiant skin!

FAQs

  • The DP4 pen. It creates channels up to 104% faster than other devices, which can carry up to 80% more topical nutrients deeper into the skin. Which means shorter treatment times, and better results. In addition, it is FDA cleared for the treatment of facial acne scars, and the only device that has a dedicated Scar Treatment setting.

  • Microneedling is safe to use on all skin types and all skin colors, and has been used for sun spots and hyperpigmentation.

  • Microneedling can be safely repeated every 4-6 weeks until you achieve the desired results. For collagen induction, we recommend starting with 3 treatments, but with a minimum separation time of 4 to 6 weeks between treatments. For scar reduction, an average of 3 to 6 treatments is recommended. The number of treatments required will depend on how each individual responds to the treatments, and the extent of the damage at the beginning.

  • The microneedling treatment is followed by a hyaluronic acid mask, and then a combination of exosomes and skin booster is applied to help with skin brightening and speed up healing.

  • Exosomes are small messenger molecules which help the different cells in your body communicate. They are used as 'signalling molecules' and basically hunt out cells in need of repair and speed up healing and decrease inflammation. Exosomes also contain growth factors which stimulate collagen and elastin production.
