Biostimulators slow down the aging process by promoting the body’s natural production of collagen and elastin over a period of several months resulting in an improvement of skin quality - better skin texture, less fine lines & a reduction in pore size. Both calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHa) and poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) fillers are considered biostimulators. The most popular CaHa and PLLA brands are Radiesse® and Sculptra®, respectively. Their effects typically last up to two years, after which follow-up treatments are usually required because we continue to age.
